ER Doctor Runs 4:17 Mile Pushing Daughter in Stroller

Stephen Biebelhausen crossed the finish line of Cleveland's Guardian Mile "Stroller Mile" on Saturday with his daughter Blake giggling beside him and a potential world record in his pocket.

The emergency room doctor clocked an astonishing 4 minutes and 17 seconds, nearly 10 seconds faster than the current Guinness World Record of 4:26.29 set by Silas Frantz in California last June. If verified, Biebelhausen will officially become the fastest person ever to run a mile while pushing a stroller.

The race started near Market Square Park, crossed the Cuyahoga River, and finished near Progressive Field. Biebelhausen ran the first half mile in 2:12, then somehow found another gear to complete the second half in just 2:05.

"I thought it would be fun to just pop her in there," Biebelhausen told local news station WEWS. "I looked up the course record. I was like, 'I could probably do that.'"

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is Blake's mood throughout the race. Running 45 minutes past her bedtime, the baby stayed cheerful the entire time. "She talked. She loved the crowd cheering," her dad recalled with clear delight.
