BNZ plans to deploy nearly 1 gigawatt-hour of storage across eight Italian projects by year's end, mainly in Lazio, Sicily, and Puglia. The company has already built more than 2.7 gigawatts of solar, wind, and storage projects worldwide.

Ukraine is contributing expertise despite facing ongoing attacks on its energy infrastructure. Engineering firm Ukrhydroproject joined the International Hydropower Association in July, bringing nearly 100 years of experience designing pumped storage facilities. The company designed the Dniester pumped storage plant, one of Europe's largest, which will feature seven units capable of generating 2,268 megawatts of power.

Pumped storage works like a giant battery, using excess renewable energy to pump water uphill, then releasing it through turbines when electricity demand peaks. It's proven technology that helps balance renewable energy sources that naturally fluctuate throughout the day.
