EV Charging Network Hits 300 Locations Across 40 States

Electric vehicle drivers just got a major vote of confidence for taking that cross-country road trip.

Pilot Company, General Motors, and EVgo recently celebrated a huge milestone: their collaborative fast-charging network now includes more than 300 locations with 1,300 charging stalls across 40 states. That's 75% of the contiguous United States, covering over 2.2 million square miles.

The network is already more than halfway toward its ultimate goal of 2,000 fast-charging stalls at up to 500 locations nationwide. For EV drivers, this means fewer worries about finding a reliable charge on long trips.

"Pilot is making the most of all drivers' miles by making long-distance EV travel more accessible and reliable than ever," said Scott Hundley, director of light duty EV and infrastructure at Pilot. "Reaching more than 300 locations reflects our commitment to building a coast-to-coast charging network."

William Hotchkiss, head of public charging at GM, emphasized what this means for drivers. "Crossing 300 Pilot and EVgo fast-charging locations is an important milestone because it gives EV drivers more of what they need most on the road: simple, convenient and dependable charging," he said.

The expansion addresses one of the biggest concerns potential EV buyers face: range anxiety and access to charging infrastructure outside major cities.

The Ripple Effect

This charging network is creating benefits beyond just convenient pit stops. According to a 2026 Paytronix report, EV customers generate 340% higher in-store revenue per visit compared to traditional fuel customers while their vehicles charge.

These drivers also show a 40% higher rate of engagement with loyalty programs and tend to prefer sustainable and organic food options. For businesses, this means EV charging stations are becoming less of a side venture and more of a core business opportunity.

As charging infrastructure spreads across the country, it makes electric vehicles a more practical choice for millions of Americans who previously worried about traveling beyond their local area. Each new charging location removes one more barrier to sustainable transportation.

Building the infrastructure for cleaner travel is happening faster than many people realize, one charging stall at a time.
