Fall River's Mitch Raposo Wins 2nd Straight UFC Fight

Mitch Raposo is making a habit of proving doubters wrong.

The Fall River native and Durfee High School graduate just secured his second straight UFC victory Saturday night, defeating higher-ranked opponent Allan Nascimento at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. Raposo, ranked 36th in the flyweight division, took on the 22nd-ranked Brazilian fighter and won by split decision.

The fight tested Raposo's toughness across all three rounds. He dominated the first two rounds, even opening a cut under Nascimento's eye, but the Brazilian came back strong in the third round with a powerful right hand that dropped Raposo to the canvas.

Raposo survived the attack and held on for the win, with two judges scoring the bout 29-28 in his favor. The victory is especially sweet considering Nascimento had won his last four UFC fights heading into their matchup.

This win follows Raposo's first UFC victory last October against Azat Maksum in Abu Dhabi. That fight marked a turning point for the young fighter, who had lost his UFC debut in June 2024 on less than two weeks' notice.

Raposo's journey shows what happens when someone refuses to accept limits others place on them. He stepped into his first UFC fight as a last-minute replacement and lost a close split decision. Instead of getting discouraged, he used that experience to fuel two consecutive wins against opponents the odds makers didn't think he could beat.

At the post-fight press conference, a confident Raposo sent a message to the rest of the division. "Now that I've got this monkey off my back, people should be scared now," he said.

His wins prove that rankings and predictions are just numbers on paper until the actual fight happens. Raposo is building something special at the Regiment Training Center in Fall River, showing his community that local fighters can compete with the best in the world.
