Family Seeks Hero Who Comforted Teen in Rollover Crash

When 16-year-old Addy Smith's car rolled multiple times on Highway OO in Missouri, trapping her beneath deployed airbags, a stranger made a choice that changed everything. He didn't just call 911 and drive away—he stayed.

Ashley Smith, Addy's mother and founder of Farmington's Little Learners, is now asking her community to help find the man who comforted her daughter on June 28. The crash happened around 2:15 p.m., leaving Addy injured, terrified, and struggling to call for help in an area with spotty cell service.

The man, described as 60 to 70 years old with a white beard and driving a tan Chevrolet pickup from the 1990s, stopped without hesitation. He climbed down the embankment and stayed by Addy's side for more than 20 minutes, reassuring her through severe panic attacks.

When Addy's cousin Sean Sullivan arrived moments later, he found the stranger already there. An off-duty EMS driver who happened to be passing by instructed them on cutting away the airbags to free Addy.

The man even removed his own shirt when towels weren't available, held Addy's hand, and helped shield her from the sight of blood and shattered glass. By the time emergency responders arrived, he had quietly moved his truck from the roadway and disappeared.
