Faridabad Parents Redefine Diwali for Their 3-Year-Old
A Faridabad couple is showing their three-year-old son that true celebration comes from warmth, good food, and shared moments rather than loud firecrackers and shopping sprees. By choosing preloved clothing and quiet clay lamps, the family is building a gentle, pet-friendly holiday tradition.
When the festival of lights arrives, three-year-old Rishaan looks forward to glowing clay lamps, delicious food, and cuddles with his four rescued dogs. For this Faridabad toddler, celebration does not require smoky skies, noisy explosions, or frantic shopping sprees.
His parents, Neha Garg and Siddhant Batra, consciously chose to strip away the chaos of modern festivities in favor of mindful connection. Both decided years ago to leave firecrackers behind after witnessing their toll on animal well-being, child laborers, and family health.
Neha distinctly remembers staying inside the kitchen as a child to help her mother, whose severe smoke allergies kept her away from loud rooftop fireworks. Siddhant also walked away from pyrotechnics in middle school after discovering the human cost of the manufacturing industry.
Today, they are passing those compassionate lessons naturally to their son. Their holiday rituals focus on lighting traditional clay diyas, taking an annual family portrait, and gathering with dear relatives over board games.

The Batra family also refuses to get swept up in festive consumerism. Instead of buying brand-new wardrobes every holiday, they restyle clothes they already love and keep Rishaan in comfortable preloved outfits.
Rather than spending money on fleeting fireworks or fast fashion, the couple directs their resources toward shared meals and joy-filled experiences. Their four beloved dogs stay calm and safe indoors, completely spared the anxiety that loud bangs usually inflict on neighborhood pets.
Sunny's Take
Neha and Siddhant remind us that our most treasured childhood memories are shaped by presence rather than presents. When we strip away the noise and clutter, festive traditions become safer, kinder, and infinitely more meaningful.
By replacing smoke and stress with gentle light, this thoughtful family shows that the quietest celebrations often shine the brightest.
