Finland and Nigeria Team Up to Fight Cyber Threats

On March 23, Nigeria and Finland signed a partnership agreement in Abuja that puts cybersecurity front and center. The Memorandum of Understanding brings together Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and Finland's Under-Secretary of State for International Trade, Jarno Syrjälä.

The timing couldn't be more critical. Nigeria has been facing a growing wave of cyberattacks targeting businesses, government institutions, and public systems as its digital economy expands.

Finland's Syrjälä emphasized his country's commitment to building "secure, human-centric digital societies." He stressed that digital transformation must do more than drive innovation—it must also build trust and empower citizens.
