Fire Crew Saves Driver in Nevada Rope Rescue

A driver who crashed down an embankment in Nevada's Joy Lake area early Sunday morning was safely pulled back to the road thanks to a coordinated rope rescue by Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue crews.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m., leaving the vehicle stranded on a steep slope below road level. Firefighters arrived to find the driver trapped in a precarious position that required specialized rescue techniques.

The rescue team first safely removed the driver from the crashed vehicle. Then they set up a low-angle rope hauling system, using two fire engines positioned on the road above as sturdy anchor points to create the necessary pulling power.

The system allowed crews to carefully haul the driver back up the embankment to safety. REMSA paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital for treatment.
