Firefighters Rescue Pomeranian Stranded on Eagle Creek Rock

A fluffy Pomeranian who slipped out of his fenced backyard last Thursday got more than he bargained for when his adventure ended with him stranded on a rock in the middle of Eagle Creek.

Neighbors spotted the small dog stuck on a large rock between steep terrain and rushing water near Damascus, Oregon, around 3 p.m. on April 23. They immediately called Clackamas Fire Department for help.

The water rescue team from Station 19 responded quickly with specialized equipment. Firefighters deployed an inflatable rapid deployment craft, typically used for swift-water emergencies with strong currents, to reach the frightened Pomeranian.

The soggy pup was safely brought to shore and reunited with his owners, who had no idea their dog had escaped. "Thank you so much for helping my dog," one owner commented on the fire department's Facebook post. "He got out of a fenced backyard, and I did not know it."

Photos shared by Clackamas Fire showed smiling firefighters posing with the rescued Pomeranian after his ordeal. The tiny dog appeared none the worse for wear despite being soaked and stranded.
