Firefighters Save 16 Ducklings From Storm Drain

When Pasco County Fire Rescue got an unusual call on Thursday, they knew every life matters, no matter how small.

Sixteen ducklings had tumbled into a storm drain in New Port Richey, and their worried parents weren't leaving without them. Ladder 19's C-Shift crew arrived ready to help the distressed feathered family.

The tiny ducklings had huddled together against one of the drain walls, likely scared and confused about their sudden underground adventure. First responders carefully reached into the drain and gently lifted each duckling to safety, one by one.

As soon as the firefighters placed the ducklings in the nearby grass, the babies waddled straight toward their waiting parents. The relief was instant, with all 16 ducklings accounted for and the family whole again.
