Firefighters Save Woman from Burning Lynnwood Home

When flames erupted from a home near Lake Stickney Monday morning, firefighters had minutes to find anyone trapped inside.

South County Fire crews arrived at the 13800 block of 20th Place West in unincorporated Lynnwood just before 8:30 a.m. Heavy flames were already shooting from the back of the house, filling the structure with thick smoke.

While other firefighters battled the blaze from outside, a search team pushed into the burning home. Inside a bedroom, they found a woman in her 70s who couldn't escape on her own.

The team pulled her to safety and paramedics rushed her to Providence Regional Medical Center in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters controlled the flames within 30 minutes, keeping the fire contained to one section of the home. Smoke damaged the rest of the structure, but the quick work prevented total destruction.
