Five Hartford Schools Win National Merit Recognition

Hartford is celebrating a major educational milestone as five of its magnet schools received national recognition for academic achievement and diversity efforts.

Annie Fisher STEM Magnet School earned the National Merit School of Excellence award, the highest honor given by Magnet Schools of America. This prestigious recognition goes to schools demonstrating exceptional commitment to high academic standards and innovative curriculum design.

Four other Hartford schools received Merit School of Distinction Awards: Breakthrough Magnet School South, Great Path Academy, Montessori Magnet School at Annie Fisher, and Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet School. Three of these schools have now won this award multiple years in a row, showing sustained excellence.

The awards recognize more than just test scores. Schools had to prove their ability to promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, create strong family partnerships, and deliver consistent quality education to every student.

Annie Fisher STEM's principal Erin Wilson-Ruff highlighted the school's partnerships with the Connecticut Science Center and three universities, plus programs ranging from esports to pottery to all-girls robotics teams.
