Flavor Flav Throws Vegas Party for U.S. Women Olympians

When the U.S. women's hockey team won gold but didn't get the same White House invite as the men's team, Flavor Flav decided to throw them the celebration they deserved.

The Public Enemy founding member and official hype man for the U.S. bobsled and skeleton teams announced plans for "Flavor Flav's She Got Game Weekend" this July in Las Vegas. He's inviting all female Team USA Olympians and Paralympians who medaled at the 2026 Winter Games.

"They worked hard to win that gold medal," Flavor Flav told CBS Mornings. "When they fought for that invitation to the White House I was like, 'yo girls, don't even worry about it. I got your back.'"

The women's hockey team controversy started when President Trump invited only the men's gold medal team to his State of the Union address. He later added he'd have to invite the women's team or risk being impeached, a comment that sparked widespread backlash.

Bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor, who surprised Flavor Flav by joining him on the show, knows firsthand what his support means. Just weeks ago, she won her first-ever gold medal and became the most decorated Black Olympian in Winter Games history with six total medals.

Flavor Flav was right there at the finish line. "As soon as she won gold, I hopped over the rope to go give her and her kids a hug," he recalled.

Meyers Taylor's two sons were also there for the historic moment. "I don't know how you got on the finish dock," she told Flavor Flav with a laugh. "Usually it's a pretty controlled area, but somehow they were able to make it into a big party at the finish."
