Florida Firefighters Free Owl Stuck Inside Tree

When neighbors in the Lexington Oaks community spotted an owl trapped inside a tree, they knew exactly who to call for help.

Pasco County Fire Rescue Engine 13 D-shift arrived at a Wesley Chapel home in early June to find a great horned owl stuck at the base of a hollow tree. The bird had somehow wedged itself into the tight space and couldn't wriggle free.

Video from the rescue shows one firefighter gently reaching into the tree's base and carefully lifting the confused owl. Within seconds of being freed, the bird spread its wings and flew off into the nearby woods, completely unharmed.

"With gentle hands and a whole lot of heart, our firefighters were able to safely free the owl," Pasco County Fire Rescue shared on social media. The department added the bird was "no worse for wear and hopefully a little wiser."

Voices in the background capture the joy of the moment. "That was unbelievable," one person exclaims as the owl takes flight. Another calls out, "You're the hero."
