Formula 1 Returns to Istanbul After 6-Year Break

The circuit first joined Formula 1 in 2005 and quickly became a favorite among drivers and fans alike. Between 2005 and 2011, the track hosted seven consecutive years of thrilling races before taking a break.

Istanbul Park made a brief comeback during the pandemic, hosting races in 2020 and 2021. The 2020 race proved particularly memorable when Lewis Hamilton secured both the victory and his seventh world championship, tying the legendary Michael Schumacher's record.

This return means more than just another race on the calendar. For Turkish motorsport fans, it's a homecoming that brings international attention and economic activity back to Istanbul.

Interestingly, some of the sport's greatest champions never conquered Istanbul Park. Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso finished on the podium four times but never took the top step, while seven-time champion Michael Schumacher also never won there.
