French Cyclist Wins Elite World Title in Photo Finish

In a finish so close the cameras could barely catch it, French cyclist Adrien Boichis became the Cross-Country Short Track world champion by mere centimeters.

The drama unfolded at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy. European Champion Charlie Aldridge led into the final lap and pushed a punishing pace at the front.

Boichis stayed glued to Aldridge's wheel, conserving energy for the decisive moment. Just before the last corner, Aldridge launched his sprint early.

The Frenchman responded with everything he had left. In the final centimeters of the race, Boichis inched past his rival to claim the rainbow jersey.

The victory caps an extraordinary season for the versatile 24-year-old athlete. He leads the overall Short Track World Cup standings after seven of nine rounds, with three victories already this year.

His dominance extends beyond short track racing. Boichis has also won three Olympic Cross-Country World Cup races this season, placing him second in those overall standings.
