Gatik Raises $200M as Self-Driving Trucks Hit 99% On-Time Rate

Gatik AI has raised $200 million to expand its fleet of self-driving trucks that are already moving goods for Fortune 500 companies across North America. The Mountain View company has completed 85,000 fully driverless deliveries with an impressive 99% on-time rate.

The trucks aren't hauling cargo across the country. Instead, they handle the middle mile between distribution centers and retail stores, making multiple trips daily on regional routes. This approach tackles one of retail's biggest challenges: getting products from warehouses to shelves quickly and reliably as customer expectations for fast delivery continue to rise.

Major companies are betting big on the technology. PepsiCo expanded its partnership with Gatik in June, now using the autonomous trucks across Texas, Arizona, and Arkansas. Kroger, Tyson Foods, and Georgia-Pacific have also signed on, helping Gatik secure more than $600 million in contracted revenue.

The trucks use AI-driven technology designed specifically for both highways and city streets. They adapt their routes based on changing demand, distribution center activity, and delivery schedules. This flexibility helps retailers respond to real-time needs without adding human drivers to their workforce.

Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies led the Series D funding round. Byron Knight, president of Koch Disruptive Technologies, said autonomous freight is moving from promising technology into real-world commercial operations that improve supply chain efficiency.

Gatik currently operates dozens of driverless trucks but plans to scale to thousands in the coming years. This expansion could reshape how goods move through supply chains, making essential products more accessible while reducing costs. The technology addresses labor shortages in trucking while keeping delivery networks running smoothly during peak demand periods.
