Gaza Aid Crossing Reopens After Brief Closure

After a brief closure, one of Gaza's most important aid routes is opening back up, bringing hope to humanitarian workers rushing to deliver supplies.

The Kerem Shalom crossing will reopen between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the United Nations World Food Programme. The crossing is a lifeline for getting food, medicine, and other essentials into Gaza.

"That is timely for us, and we need to get in aid as fast as we can," said Samer Abdel Jaber, who directs the WFP's Middle East operations. He spoke to reporters from Cairo, where teams have been preparing shipments.

The Israeli government agency COGAT confirmed the crossing would reopen Tuesday for gradual entry of humanitarian supplies. The crossing had been temporarily closed during recent military operations but is now ready to resume its critical function.

The reopening comes at a crucial moment. Humanitarian organizations have been waiting to move supplies that families across Gaza urgently need.
