Georgia Credit Union Awards $7K in Scholarships to Seniors
Seven Georgia high school seniors will each receive $1,000 to pursue their college dreams through LGE Community Credit Union's 2026 scholarship program. Applications are open through March 31 for students in seven metro Atlanta counties.
High school seniors across metro Atlanta have a new path to college funding, and it starts with learning to budget their money.
LGE Community Credit Union just opened applications for its 2026 scholarship program, offering $1,000 awards to graduating seniors in seven Georgia counties. The program serves students in Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Floyd, Fulton, Gordon, and Paulding counties.
The application process itself doubles as a learning opportunity. Students must watch a budgeting course called "Money Moves: Mastering Budgeting Before Graduation" and pass a 10-question quiz before completing their applications.
To qualify, students need a connection to LGE either as members themselves or through a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian who banks there. They must be graduating from a public, private, or accredited home school in one of the seven counties and planning to enroll full-time in an accredited U.S. college, university, or technical school this fall.

The application lives on LGE's KOFE platform, where students answer two essay questions after completing the budgeting course. They'll reflect on the most impactful lesson from the video in 300 words or fewer, then explain what winning the scholarship would mean to them in under 400 words.
The deadline falls on March 31, 2026, giving students nearly two months to complete their applications.
The Ripple Effect
This program does more than hand out money. By requiring financial literacy training before awarding scholarships, LGE equips students with budgeting skills they'll use long after graduation day.
The credit union has run this program for years, previously awarding as much as $2,500 per student. Past winners include students from Kell and Sprayberry high schools, showing the program's track record of supporting local talent.
Seven families will celebrate lighter financial burdens this spring, and seven students will enter college with both scholarship money and money management skills in their toolkit.
