Ghana Students Defend National Investment Quiz Title
St Augustine's College in Ghana made history by winning the National Investment Quiz for the second year in a row, showing how young people are mastering financial literacy. The nail-biting finale came down to the final riddles as four top schools battled for the championship.
A team of high school students just proved that young people are hungry to learn about money, and they're really good at it.
St Augustine's College successfully defended their National Investment Quiz championship in 2026, beating three other top Ghanaian schools in a competition that went right down to the wire. The annual quiz tests students on stocks, bonds, and investment fundamentals, building financial literacy skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
The grand finale featured four powerhouse schools competing head to head. Mfantsipim School jumped to an early lead with 12 points in the opening round, but St Augustine's College (known as Augusco) quickly responded, taking the lead by round two with 19 points.
The competition stayed tight through every round. In round three, schools were separated by just a single point as they tackled complex financial questions.
By round four, Augusco had pulled ahead to 40 points, with Mfantsipim close behind at 36. But the real drama came during the riddle round, where tension filled the room.

All four schools missed the first riddle completely. Corpus Christi Senior High School broke through with the second riddle, but Augusco's team showed their depth by correctly answering both the third and fourth riddles. Mfantsipim answered the final riddle correctly, but Augusco's consistent performance throughout the competition secured their back-to-back victory.
The Ripple Effect
This competition represents something bigger than a trophy. By making financial literacy exciting and competitive, the National Investment Quiz is helping shape Ghana's future business leaders while they're still in high school.
The APSU Secretariat, representing St Augustine's alumni worldwide, celebrated the win as a source of pride for the entire school community. They recognized not just the student contestants, but the coordinators, steering committee, and school staff who supported the team's success.
These young people are learning investment concepts that many adults never master, giving them a crucial head start in building financial security. The competition also shows how education can be engaging when students see real-world applications for what they're learning.
Ghana's investment in financial education for young people is creating a generation equipped to make smart money decisions from day one.
