GM Integrates 5,000 Electrify America Chargers Into App

Electric vehicle drivers just got a major convenience upgrade that makes charging easier than stopping at a gas station.

General Motors announced it has integrated Electrify America's entire charging network directly into its myBrand app for Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac owners. The feature gives drivers access to over 5,000 fast charging stations, including ultra-fast 350 kW chargers, all from a single app.

The new integration eliminates the headache of juggling multiple apps and payment methods. Drivers can now locate available charging stations, navigate to them, start their charging session, and pay for it without ever leaving GM's app or pulling out a credit card.

This streamlined experience is part of GM's broader push to make electric vehicles more practical for everyday drivers. The automaker says its EV owners now have access to more than 250,000 public charging stations across the United States.

The Ripple Effect

This move signals a shift in how the EV industry thinks about user experience. For years, public charging has been fragmented, requiring drivers to download different apps for different networks and manage multiple accounts.

GM's all-in-one approach removes a major barrier that has kept some drivers from making the switch to electric. As the second-largest EV seller in the US after Tesla, GM's success with models like the Chevy Equinox EV and Cadillac's electric SUV lineup proves that convenience drives adoption.

The timing couldn't be better. GM plans to launch its new 2027 Chevy Bolt EV in the coming months, promising the most range of any EV under $30,000. Though it will be a limited production run, the affordable Bolt gives more families access to electric driving with this simplified charging experience built right in.

As charging networks continue to expand and technology makes the process even smoother, the friction between gas and electric vehicles keeps disappearing. What once seemed complicated is becoming the simpler choice.
