Goldendoodle Knox waits for his TV anchor dad every night

Every evening at 6 p.m., Knox the goldendoodle claims his spot on the couch for his favorite show. But this Denver pup isn't watching cartoons or animal documentaries. He's watching his dad deliver the news.

Knox's love affair with journalism started when he was just four months old. His owner Marc Sallinger had just been hired as a weekend morning anchor at KUSA-TV, and Marc's wife Kelly brought Knox home as a new puppy.

Those early morning broadcasts became bonding time for Kelly and Knox. They'd snuggle up together on the couch, watching Marc report the day's stories. When Marc switched to the evening news, Knox's viewing schedule shifted right along with him.

Now fully grown at three years old, Knox has his routine down to a science. After dinner, he hops on the couch with Kelly and waits for that familiar voice to fill the living room. His head tilts when Marc speaks, completely focused on the screen.

The best part comes after the broadcast ends. Knox trots over to the front door and waits, knowing his dad will be walking through it soon. "I joke that the show is his sign that Dad is coming home soon," Kelly says.

Kelly started filming Knox's nightly news ritual and sharing the videos online. The Internet couldn't get enough of the devoted pup glued to the TV screen. The clips went so viral that KUSA-TV invited their most loyal viewer for a studio visit.

Knox got the VIP treatment, sitting right next to Marc at the anchor desk in his best business attire. He finally got to see where the magic happens under those bright studio lights.

The station visit was supposed to be Knox's 15 minutes of fame, but his star keeps rising. Kelly now runs an Instagram account for her news-loving pup that has attracted over 200,000 followers. It turns out Knox's on-camera career is just getting started.
