In a powerful demonstration of commitment to education, Gombe State has approved comprehensive financial support for nearly 24,000 students seeking to advance their academic futures.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya's state executive council has unanimously voted to cover examination fees for 23,873 students across multiple certification programs, highlighting a strategic investment in youth development and learning potential.

According to Education Commissioner Dr. Aishatu Maigari, the comprehensive support package breaks down as follows: 21,909 students will sit for WAEC examinations, 1,431 for NABTEB, and 297 for NBAIS. Notably, the initiative includes 183 non-indigenous students and 53 students with special needs, underscoring the state's inclusive educational approach.

The groundbreaking intervention will cost N661,557,121, with funding shared between the state government and 11 local government areas in a 60-40 cost-sharing arrangement. This approach reflects a collaborative strategy to eliminate financial barriers preventing students from accessing critical educational certifications.

Critically, the student selection process was merit-based, with candidates chosen after a comprehensive mock examination involving 26,857 participants. An impressive 88% of these students scored 50% or higher, qualifying them for government-sponsored examination support.
