Grab and Aboitiz Foods Expand Green Investments in Vietnam

Vietnam is becoming a hub for companies betting on a greener, smarter future in Southeast Asia.

During a state visit to the Philippines, Vietnamese President To Lam met with leaders from Aboitiz Foods and Grab to discuss expanded partnerships. Both companies committed to investing in sustainable development projects that align with Vietnam's push toward digital transformation and environmental responsibility.

Aboitiz Foods, a Philippine agribusiness giant, already operates three feed mills in Vietnam with a combined annual capacity of 1.1 million tons. Now the company wants to go further.

CEO Tristan Aboitiz told President Lam his company plans to invest in green agriculture, food traceability systems, and sustainable supply chains. The focus areas include smart farming technologies and projects that meet high environmental and food safety standards.

The company's interest reflects growing regional cooperation on food security within ASEAN. Vietnam and the Philippines see agriculture innovation as essential to feeding their combined population of nearly 200 million people sustainably.

Meanwhile, Grab is exploring cutting edge transportation solutions for Vietnamese cities. Chief organization capability officer Chin Yin Ong outlined plans to pilot autonomous vehicles and delivery robots in Vietnam.

Grab already provides services across numerous Vietnamese provinces through GrabBike, GrabFood, and GrabTaxi. The company connects consumers with transportation and food delivery while creating income opportunities for drivers and restaurant partners.

The tech company committed to supporting multimodal transportation systems that integrate public transit with ride sharing. Grab will also expand digital skills training through its online learning platforms and promote Vietnamese tourism and cuisine through its regional network.

President Lam welcomed both companies' plans, noting they support Vietnam's priorities in renewable energy, smart cities, and cashless payment systems. He encouraged partnerships that build digital infrastructure and improve urban traffic management.
