Hairless Puppy Found in Cabinet Now Thriving in New Home

A puppy found cowering in a kitchen cabinet, completely hairless and covered in mange, now spends her days playing with her best friend and soaking up endless love from her new family.

When Humane World for Animals arrived at a property in Ballinger, Texas, they encountered a heartbreaking scene. The smell of waste filled the air, and nonstop barking echoed through the home as rescuers discovered over 70 neglected animals.

Inside a kitchen cabinet, they found a young dog with no fur, trembling and alone. Rescuers nicknamed her "Dobby" after the Harry Potter house elf, and immediately brought her to safety along with dozens of other dogs, chickens, ducks, geese, and a cat.

The next morning, Dobby woke up in a clean, safe space for the first time. Despite her rough start, she wagged her tail and accepted gentle affection from her rescuers while receiving treatment for mange.

Haily, a graphic designer at Humane World, heard about the hairless pup and drove two hours to meet her. The connection was instant, and Haily knew they were meant to be together.

After adoption, Haily renamed her "Misty" to mark a fresh beginning. That first night home, Misty pranced joyfully around the house and bonded immediately with Haily's other dog, Ozwald.
