A 16-year-old donkey in Mill Creek Township, Pennsylvania, has just proven that standing out isn't always a bad thing. Hank, a Mammoth Jackstock donkey, now holds the Guinness World Record for longest donkey ears at an impressive 17.12 inches—about as long as a computer keyboard.

The story of how Hank found his home is almost as heartwarming as his record. Five years ago, owner Jen Gee was searching for a new riding donkey after her previous companion passed away. When she visited a farm to look at donkeys, Hank walked up from the far end of the pasture and refused to leave her side.

The owner initially insisted Hank wasn't for sale. But after watching him follow Gee around and step between her and every other donkey she tried to meet, the owner changed her mind. She told Gee she had never seen Hank act that way with anyone before.

Since then, Hank and Gee have become adventure partners. They compete in trail competitions, go hiking, and spend time trail riding together. Along the way, people constantly commented on Hank's unusually large ears.

After someone sent Gee an article about the previous world record holder, she decided to measure Hank's ears as a joke. Hank's 17.12-inch ears officially beat the previous record of 15.8 inches, held by a donkey in the southern United States. Gee recently received the email confirming Hank's world record status.
