Haverford Fair Connects 20+ Groups Seeking Volunteers

Haverford Township is rolling out the welcome mat for anyone who's ever wanted to volunteer but didn't know where to start.

Discover Haverford and the Haverford Township Civic Council are hosting a Volunteer Fair on September 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Haverford Community Recreation and Environmental Center. The event brings together more than 20 local organizations, all looking for helping hands.

Whether you love working outdoors, enjoy office tasks, want to help children or animals, or prefer communications work, there's something for everyone. Organizations attending include Kelly Music for Life, the Haverford Tree Tenders, volunteer fire companies, the township library, and the Historical Society.

"Volunteers are the heartbeat of Haverford Township: sharing their time and talents to make our community stronger, more connected, and a better place for everyone," said Dr. Gail Farally-Semerad, president of the Civic Council's Board of Directors.

The fair welcomes both adults and teens who want to explore opportunities that match their interests, skills, and schedules. Some roles include assisting with special events, serving on committees, working in community gardens, or supporting local families in need.

Executive Director Jeanne Angell of Discover Haverford sees the event as more than just a networking opportunity. "The benefits of volunteering are many, including helping others, fostering a sense of community, developing skills and building your resume, creating friendships, and cultivating your sense of well-being," she said.
