High Schooler Skipped Prom for Wrestling, Now She's a Star
Scarlett Bordeaux ditched her high school prom to attend an indie wrestling show with coworkers. That one decision launched her journey to becoming a professional wrestling star.
When Scarlett Bordeaux's coworkers invited her to a wrestling show instead of prom, she said yes to body slams over ball gowns. That choice changed her life forever.
Bordeaux was working at a movie theater when her colleagues kept raving about attending monthly indie wrestling shows. She had no idea what they were talking about, but when prom night came around, curiosity won.
"I loved it. I thought it was amazing," Bordeaux told Fox News Digital. Within months of attending shows, she knew she wanted to step into the ring herself.
She started by asking if she could help set up chairs and throw away trash, anything to stay close to the action. A few months later, the promoter asked if she had a sexy Santa costume because they wanted to give her a piledriver.

Bordeaux didn't even know what a piledriver was, but she said yes anyway. After taking the move, someone threw a bucket of snow on her backstage and said, "Welcome to the business."
From there, she climbed through independent promotions, earning championships along the way. She and her husband, fellow wrestler Killer Kross, eventually made it to WWE for two separate stints between 2019 and 2022.
The journey wasn't always smooth. Bordeaux remembers taking a devastating choke slam from a 6-foot-5 wrestler named Keith Walker that bent her completely in half. "My knees hit my forehead," she recalled. The crowd loved it so much they wanted her to do it again the next month.
Why This Inspires
Bordeaux's story shows how one spontaneous decision can unlock an entire career. She didn't need a traditional athletic background or years of training to start. She just needed curiosity and the courage to ask how she could help.
Today, both Bordeaux and Kross perform with Major League Wrestling, where they're competing at the highest level. The teenager who chose wrestling over prom proved that following your gut can lead somewhere extraordinary.
