Hong Kong Horse Ka Ying Rising Breaks 21-Year Win Record

A racehorse in Hong Kong is rewriting the history books one stunning victory at a time.

Ka Ying Rising extended his perfect winning streak to 18 races on Sunday, breaking Silent Witness's 21-year-old record for consecutive victories in Hong Kong. The sprinting sensation blazed through the Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup in track record time, making it look almost effortless.

The five-year-old has been unstoppable for 742 consecutive days. That's two and a half years without tasting defeat, with eight of those wins coming in the sport's most prestigious Group One contests.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Ka Ying Rising is actually younger than many of his competitors. "They always think he's the big boy bashing them up, but he's actually the baby," explained trainer David Hayes.

Jockey Zac Purton, who has ridden Ka Ying Rising to victory after victory, can barely believe what he's experiencing. "He's the horse of a lifetime. I just shake my head every time with the performances he puts up and the ease with which he does it," Purton said after the race.

"To be etched in history now forever is part of my legacy, part of David's and a part of Ka Ying Rising's," Purton reflected. The jockey knows he's riding something truly special, describing the horse as "in a league of his own."
