Through three funding rounds, Illinois has now committed $67.2 million for charging infrastructure. That investment will create 489 charging ports at 91 locations, many in communities that rarely see this kind of economic development opportunity.
The next round of grants worth $30 million will be announced by August, with locations spreading from Champaign to Cook County, from Aurora to Lebanon. Each station must include at least four fast charging ports, ensuring drivers always have access when they need it.
