India EV Maker Hits 100,000 Battery Milestone in Pune

Octillion Power Systems reached a major milestone in India's clean energy future when workers at its Pune facility completed the company's 100,000th electric vehicle battery on March 20.

The California-based company started with a single facility in Pune back in 2017, making batteries for electric buses. Eight years later, it runs three massive factories across Pune and Gujarat, covering more than 300,000 square feet and producing enough batteries to power cars, trucks, buses, and even two-wheelers.

That 100,000th battery will power a brand new all-electric passenger SUV from a leading Indian automaker. It represents more than just a number. It's proof that India can build a robust domestic supply chain for clean transportation at scale.

"This milestone reflects the trust our clients place in us to deliver safe, durable, and innovative batteries on time," said Paul Beach, the company's Global President. The achievement comes after record growth across all three facilities, with production expected to hit 8 gigawatt hours of annual energy in 2026.

The Ripple Effect extends far beyond factory walls. Vehicles powered by these batteries help combat the pollution choking India's cities, where air quality remains a critical health challenge. Each battery system built in India creates local jobs, strengthens technical expertise, and reduces dependence on imported components.

Octillion now holds the title of India's largest EV battery manufacturer. The company recently announced plans to expand even further with a third major facility in Halol, Gujarat, signaling confidence in India's electric vehicle market.

His team's dedication shows in the numbers. Globally, Octillion has delivered more than 2.5 million EV batteries, with vehicles traveling over 39 billion kilometers on their systems.
