India Invests $40M in Minority Education and Skills

Hundreds of thousands of students from minority communities across India just got a major boost toward better education and brighter futures.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs secured ₹3,400 crore in funding to support educational programs, skill development, and infrastructure improvements for six recognized minority groups. This investment represents a commitment to ensuring every community has access to quality learning opportunities.

Scholarships remain a cornerstone of the program. Pre-metric scholarships received ₹198 crore, while post-metric scholarships saw a significant jump to ₹581 crore, up from ₹413 crore last year. These funds help students complete their education without financial barriers holding them back.

The budget also includes a substantial 2.5-fold increase for waqf property development schemes, now allocated ₹32 crore. These programs aim to protect community-owned land from encroachment and develop it for commercial use, creating revenue streams that fund additional welfare activities.
