Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla speaking at Telangana school innovation program launch event

India Launches School Innovation Network in Telangana

🤯 Mind Blown

Telangana just connected 379 school innovation labs with college mentors to help students turn classroom ideas into real startups. The state-backed program gives kids hands-on access to 3D printers, robotics kits, and expert guidance from day one.

Students across Telangana now have a direct path from science class to startup, thanks to a new mentorship network launched this month.

The state rolled out ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy on April 6, connecting 379 Atal Tinkering Labs in schools with Vardhaman College of Engineering. The college will provide ongoing mentorship, teacher training, and startup incubation support to students working on real-world solutions.

These aren't your typical school science labs. Atal Tinkering Labs come equipped with 3D printers, robotics kits, and IoT devices that let students build working prototypes of their ideas. Until now, many operated independently without structured guidance to help promising projects grow beyond the classroom.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla attended the launch alongside Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and emphasized the program's mission. "It will empower students to think creatively, solve real-world problems, and contribute to nation-building," he told attendees.

The program clusters labs regionally and pairs them with local colleges and institutions. This creates a pipeline where students can access technical expertise, develop their inventions, and eventually launch companies with professional support.

Mission Director Deepak Bagla of Atal Innovation Mission explained the long-term vision. "ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy are important steps we have taken towards building a culture where innovation begins early and is nurtured consistently."

The Ripple Effect

Telangana joins a nationwide movement to catch innovation early. India now operates over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs across the country, creating one of the world's largest student innovation ecosystems.

The regional hub model means students in smaller cities get the same quality mentorship as those in tech capitals. A teenager in a rural Telangana school now has direct access to engineering professors, startup advisors, and the tools to prototype solutions for problems they see in their own communities.

Early exposure to entrepreneurship creates a different kind of graduate. Instead of waiting until college to explore business ideas, these students arrive already knowing how to build, test, and refine products.

India's next generation of entrepreneurs is learning to tinker, build, and solve problems before they graduate high school.
