India Plans Green Jobs Boom Through Electric Vehicle Push

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav shared the vision Thursday at a major electric mobility conference in New Delhi. He explained that India's shift to electric vehicles goes far beyond swapping gas cars for electric ones.

"This is about building a sustainable industrial ecosystem that strengthens manufacturing, creates green jobs and supports our vision for a developed India by 2047," Yadav told business leaders at the event hosted by India's Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The government has already started making it easier for companies to invest in electric vehicle manufacturing. Officials digitized approval systems through a new online portal called PARIVESH, streamlined compliance requirements, and simplified environmental clearances.

These reforms are designed to speed up investments while still protecting the environment. The changes mean companies can launch green manufacturing projects faster than ever before.

Yadav emphasized that India's approach balances environmental protection with economic growth. The country is focusing on green development, strong infrastructure, transparent governance, and a circular economy that reuses materials instead of wasting them.

"Ecology and economy must progress together," Yadav said. "Through collaborative action, India can emerge as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing, green mobility and climate-conscious development."

With nearly 1.4 billion people and rapidly growing energy needs, India's success could provide a blueprint for other developing nations.

India's ambitious timeline gives the country just over two decades to complete this transformation and claim its spot as a clean mobility superpower.
