The impact extends beyond just stronger roads. Professor Mishra calls the composite "a classic example of the circular economy principle," transforming two high-volume industrial wastes into a resource with real engineering value.

Using locally available mining waste means regions producing coal could build their own infrastructure from materials that would otherwise require costly disposal. Communities dealing with environmental concerns from waste accumulation could see those stockpiles become valuable resources instead.

The team has planned pilot-scale field trials to test the material's long-term durability on actual roads. If successful, the innovation could reshape how India approaches both waste management and infrastructure in mining regions.
