India's First AI Tourism State Launches in Andhra Pradesh

Tourists visiting temples, beaches, and ancient forts across Andhra Pradesh can now chat with an AI guide in their native language, making India's rich cultural heritage more accessible than ever before.

The state signed a three-year agreement with tech company Xplorer to deploy the NiVU AI platform at more than 100 tourist destinations. Visitors simply scan a QR code at any site to access voice or text conversations about the location's history, architecture, and cultural significance in over 130 languages.

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh tested the system himself in Telugu at the pilot site in Mangalagiri. He found the AI responses accurate and respectful, noting that hundreds of visitors are already using it daily.

The rollout plan starts with 30 major destinations in year one, expanding statewide within three years. The service requires no app downloads and costs nothing to use, removing common barriers that often frustrate international and domestic travelers alike.

This initiative could reshape how millions experience India's cultural treasures. Language barriers have long prevented deeper engagement with historical sites, forcing many visitors to rely on expensive private guides or generic printed materials.

Now a family from Japan, a solo traveler from Germany, or domestic tourists from different Indian states can all receive personalized information in their preferred language. The technology democratizes access to cultural knowledge, ensuring everyone can appreciate the stories behind ancient caves, colonial forts, and sacred temples.
