More than 350 people filled a regional events center in Spencer, Iowa, proving that good news about local business is the best draw in town. The Iowa Lakes Corridor Business Recognition Luncheon shattered attendance records as neighbors gathered to celebrate the entrepreneurs and companies building their communities.

Curt Strouth, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor, says the turnout tells a bigger story. "We have strong businesses both small and large. We also have the entrepreneurs and young professionals that want to be involved to move the needle here in Northwest Iowa," he explained.

Small business owners especially appreciated the spotlight. Strouth noted that much of their essential work happens behind the scenes, far from public recognition.

Their newest program, "Build my Future," launches this spring. The initiative aims to bring former residents back home by highlighting career opportunities they might not know exist in their hometowns.
