Irish Rally Raises €643K for Cancer Patients Over 23 Years

When 270 vintage vehicles rolled through Kilcullen last week, they weren't just showing off classic tractors and motorcycles. They were continuing a 23-year mission that has raised €643,019.55 for Irish cancer patients.

The Mac & Norman Rally started as a simple idea from the Sully and Egar families of Cannycourt. Now in its 24th year, it has become a community institution that draws 128 tractors, 42 trucks, 20 motorcycles, and 76 classic cars to support the Irish Cancer Society.

The rally route runs from Brannockstown through Kilcullen, where locals line the streets to wave and donate to collectors. The cavalcade of vehicles, many decades old, returns to Mac Sully's yard in Cannycourt for a cold lunch and charity auction.

What makes the event special goes beyond the impressive fundraising total. Every penny raised goes directly toward cancer research, patient services, and family support through the Irish Cancer Society.

The organizing families have built something that runs on pure community goodwill. "No one has ever refused to help when we ask," they told the Kildare Nationalist, highlighting the deep well of volunteer support that keeps the rally running year after year.

The Mac & Norman Rally shows what sustained community commitment can achieve. Over two decades, a local event has grown into a significant funding source for cancer services across Ireland, touching countless patients and families who benefit from the research and support programs it funds.
