In healthcare, scientists are working on prenatal diagnostic technology that could identify genetic conditions without invasive procedures. Other teams are developing personalized treatments for depression and new cell therapies for people living with progressive multiple sclerosis.

The cybersecurity projects focus on protecting critical infrastructure systems. As our power grids, water supplies, and transportation networks become more connected, these partnerships aim to keep them safe from digital threats.

Food innovation is also getting a boost. One collaboration uses illuminated fermentation to produce plant-based ingredients that could make healthy foods more accessible and sustainable.

This isn't just about money or technology. For nearly five decades, the BIRD Foundation has proven that cooperation beats competition. The organization has supported more than 1,200 tech partnerships between Israel and the United States, generating over $10 billion in revenue from joint projects.

Dr. Alon Stopel, Chairman of the Israel Innovation Authority, says these collaborations strengthen both countries economically and technologically. Mike Molnar from NIST notes that sharing risks between nations enables breakthrough innovations that might seem too ambitious for one country alone.

Executive Director Yaron Lotan puts it simply: combining Israeli and American expertise creates value greater than the sum of its parts. When brilliant minds work together across borders, they accelerate solutions to problems that affect everyone.

The projects are designed to become commercially viable products with global impact. That means the cancer detection system developed in Tel Aviv and California could eventually help veterinarians in Tokyo or São Paulo. The agricultural technology could feed communities from Kansas to Kenya.
