Jamesport Awards $3K Scholarship for Community Service

The Greater Jamesport Civic Association found a meaningful way to honor America's upcoming 250th anniversary: investing in young people who are already making their communities better.

The group announced a new America 250 Community Service Award Scholarship that will give up to $3,000 to graduating high school seniors who've demonstrated a real commitment to helping others. Students who live east of County Route 105 in Riverhead, New York, and plan to attend college, trade school, or vocational programs can apply.

The scholarship requirements focus on what these students have already given, not just their test scores. Applicants need to submit their school transcript, but the heart of the application is a two-part essay where students describe their community service work and share ideas for making their hometown even better.

Students must also include a list of their service activities and any related honors or awards they've received. They'll need a letter of acceptance from their future school when the award is given out.

The deadline to apply is April 15, 2026. Applications are available through the Greater Jamesport Civic Association's website.
