John Deere Invests $10M in Farm Robot Partnership

The farm equipment giant announced a three-year partnership with Reservoir, a California robotics startup founded just last year. Together, they'll develop rugged AI technologies designed specifically for high-value crops like fruits, vegetables and nuts that require precision handling.

The collaboration tackles a critical problem facing American farmers. Labor shortages have plagued agriculture for years, forcing growers to leave crops unharvested or scale back operations. Automation offers a practical solution that works around the clock without breaks.

Reservoir will use the funding to open its technical community to more startups. John Deere sees the partnership as essential for moving innovations from lab prototypes to tools farmers can use today. Reservoir announced the deal at its first Ruggedize conference, an event focused on applying durable AI across agriculture, mining and construction. The forum brings together founders, engineers and industry partners to share challenges and solutions.
