Jordan Staal Leads Hurricanes to Game 4 Win in Cup Final

The Carolina Hurricanes are heading home with fresh momentum after captain Jordan Staal delivered a masterclass performance in Game 4, scoring two goals to even the Stanley Cup Final series at two games apiece.

Staal opened the scoring early on a power play, cleaning up the rebound right in front of the net to give Carolina a 3-1 lead after the first period. The Hurricanes came out roaring with three first-period goals, including tallies from Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake.

But the real magic happened in the third period with the game tied 3-3. After a turnover by Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore, Carolina's Seth Jarvis battled for the puck in front of the net and Nikolaj Ehlers tried passing it to Staal.

Head coach Rod Brind'Amour made a bold decision to start backup goalie Brandon Bussi instead of Frederik Andersen, and it paid off handsomely. Bussi made seven crucial saves in his first appearance of the series, helping protect Carolina's lead when it mattered most.

Ehlers sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, banking the puck cleverly out of Carolina's zone to make it 5-3. The win sends the series back to Lenovo Center in Carolina for Game 5 on Thursday, where the home crowd will be electric.

After dropping the first two games at home, the Hurricanes have clawed back to make this a best-of-three series with two of those games on their ice.
