Jordan Stolz Wins 2nd Gold, First American Since 1980

Jordan Stolz just reminded the world that American speedskating is back in a big way. The 20-year-old from Wisconsin captured his second gold medal at the Milan Winter Olympics on Saturday, winning the 500-meter race and making history as the first American since 1980 to claim two speedskating golds at one Games.

Stolz's golden weekend started with a victory in the 1,000-meter event, the first time an American had medaled in that race since 2010. Days later, he dominated the 500-meter to cement his place in Olympic history.

The young champion isn't done yet. Stolz will compete in two more events this week: the 1,500-meter race on Thursday and the mass start next Saturday. His confidence heading into those races? Sky high.
