Juggler Carlos Mir Breaks World Record After 30 Years
A professional juggler from Delaware just shattered a world record with a diabolo grind lasting over 1 minute and 46 seconds. Carlos Mir, who performs as "Cascading Carlos," is now waiting for official confirmation on what would be his fourth Guinness World Record.
After three decades of juggling professionally, Carlos Mir might have just earned his fourth spot in the record books.
On April 11, Mir attempted to break the Guinness World Record for "Longest Diabolo Grind" at the Bethany Beach Suites Residence Inn in Delaware. The diabolo, a spinning juggling device that looks like two cups connected at their tips, requires incredible precision to balance and grind along a string.
Mir clocked an unofficial time of 1 minute and 46 seconds, beating the current record of 1:42.99 set by Japan's Naoshi Terasawa in 2025. His attempt is now under review by Guinness judges, a process that can take up to three months.
The Delmar resident, who performs professionally as "Cascading Carlos," already holds two active world records. In 2015, he threw a diabolo 78 feet and 5 inches into the air in Ocean City, Maryland. Last September, he achieved the highest helicopter devil stick toss at 21 feet, also in Ocean City.

During the same April session, Mir took a shot at reclaiming another title he previously held. From 2021 to 2024, he owned the record for most helicopter spins with devil sticks in one minute with 113 spins. While he didn't reclaim that record, he hit a personal best of 141 propeller spins, falling just nine short of the 150-spin benchmark.
Why This Inspires
Mir's journey shows that mastery takes time, and age doesn't dim ambition. After 30 years in his craft, he's still pushing himself to reach heights no one else has achieved. His dedication required the help of a full support team, including video production volunteers from Pac 14, hotel staff, and fellow professional juggler Cory Clendaniel.
"Challenging yourself is a great tool for strengthening your soul, heart, mind and talent," Mir said. "It sets a higher goal and a level that no one else has reached."
Beach goers can catch Cascading Carlos performing weekly during summer season in Bethany Beach and Ocean City, where he continues proving that the best performances come from never stopping the practice.
