Kangaroo Proposal at San Antonio Zoo Goes Viral

Jordan Hudgins knew exactly how to surprise Kalee Rush, even though she's a self-described planner who loves controlling every detail.

The Austin College alumni got engaged at the San Antonio Zoo in a moment that perfectly tied back to where their love story began. Hudgins picked kangaroos as the centerpiece because Austin College's mascot brought them together as students.

Their romance started in the most college way possible. Rush served as a peer mentor during Hudgins' freshman year, and he found creative reasons to keep showing up to her office hours.

"He started showing up at my office hours like every single week," Rush said. "First he would make his best friend come with him, and then he started showing up alone and he would come with random questions just to talk."

Three and a half years later, Hudgins planned the perfect proposal. He let Rush plan just enough of their weekend trip that she thought she had everything figured out. Then he pulled off the real surprise.

When Rush turned around during their zoo visit, she saw a sign hanging from a tree asking "Will you marry me?" The kangaroos watched nearby, connecting the moment back to their college days.
