Karlie Kloss Gives $2.5M for Miami Maternal Health Center
Supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss just transformed the maternity ward where she delivered her own three children. Her $2.5 million gift to Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami created a state-of-the-art maternal health center that will serve over 4,300 families a year.
When Karlie Kloss welcomed her three children at Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, she experienced something that would change thousands of lives. The supermodel, entrepreneur, and philanthropist was so moved by the care her family received that she and her husband Joshua Kushner decided to give back in a major way.
On August 18, 2024, Jackson Memorial unveiled the newly renovated Karlie Kloss Center for Maternal Health, made possible by a $2.5 million donation from the couple. The center features a completely reimagined Obstetric Emergency Room with 11 private exam rooms, enhanced clinical spaces, and patient rooms designed with comfort, privacy, and dignity in mind.
The timing couldn't be more critical. Jackson Memorial handles two to three times more complex obstetrical cases than any other hospital in South Florida, serving mothers during their most vulnerable moments. The renovated space now matches the world-class expertise of the medical teams who work there.
"Jackson Memorial will forever be woven into the story of our family," Kloss said at the ribbon cutting. "We are deeply honored to give back to a place that has given our family so much, and to help create a space where mothers and families across South Florida can feel safe, seen, supported, and cared for."

The center serves a hospital that's already Florida's leading academic program for maternal-fetal medicine and fetal surgery. It also features a newly renovated labor and delivery unit with 20 private rooms and an obstetric recovery area, ensuring thousands of South Florida families receive exceptional care in a welcoming environment.
The Ripple Effect
This donation extends Kloss's decade-long commitment to women's healthcare and education. In 2015, she founded Kode with Klossy, a nonprofit that has helped thousands of young people pursue careers in science and technology. She also launched the Gateway Coalition to preserve access to essential healthcare for women and families, and recently joined the board of the Lotus Endowment Fund.
Flavia Llizo, CEO of Jackson Health Foundation, captured what the gift truly represents. "This is an investment in every mother who walks through their doors, every baby welcomed into the world, and every caregiver dedicated to providing high-quality care."
The center will support over 4,300 babies and their families each year, creating ripples of positive impact across South Florida for generations to come.
