The state government's decision comes after the devastating November 2025 incident where 25 schoolgirls were abducted and the Vice Principal of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School was tragically killed by bandits.

According to an official circular signed by Isah Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer of the State Universal Basic Education Board, and Aliyu Bagarawa, Deputy Director of Academics at the Kebbi State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, schools will resume for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The first week of resumption will be dedicated to conducting first-term examinations, with normal academic activities and classes scheduled to commence on Monday, January 12, 2026.
