Kerala Developer Builds Tiny Libraries You Can Hold
A software developer in Kerala is turning beloved books into palm-sized collections that fit on a single miniature shelf. His handcrafted libraries have sold over 3,000 units in just 18 months.
What if you could hold every book you've ever loved in the palm of your hand? Prabin C, a software developer from Kuttipuram, Kerala, has made that dream a reality with My Little Library.
Prabin creates miniature bookshelves filled with tiny replicas of real books. The smallest shelf measures just 5x3 inches and holds 50 books, while the largest fits over 400 miniature titles. Each cover is an exact replica of the original, shrunk down to a size you can carry anywhere.
The idea came from a simple frustration. "We may not all possess the books we have read or want to read," Prabin explains. "For example, if you borrowed them from the library. This way, although you cannot read them, the books will be with you always."
What started as a personal project quickly grew into something bigger. When Prabin began sharing his creations on Instagram, customization requests poured in. People wanted their own curated collections featuring their favorite Malayalam and English titles.
Prabin maintains a collection of over 600 titles to choose from. He painstakingly crafts each miniature book by hand, creating perfect tiny replicas complete with authentic covers. Getting the product right took time, especially the bookshelf itself.

He initially used wood and glass but switched to MDF sheets after breakage during shipping. Now his libraries travel safely to readers across India. The process remains labor intensive, which is why he typically only creates books already in his collection.
Why This Inspires
These little libraries represent something bigger than decoration. They're physical reminders of the stories that shaped us, the books we dream of reading, and the authors who changed our lives.
Content creator Afeefa VP captured this perfectly when describing her miniature collection: "This is my small world comprising Basheer, Madhavikutty, and Benyamin. Certain things are special not because of their size but because of what they encompass."
Prabin has sold more than 3,000 little libraries in just a year and a half. Libraries range from ₹1,299 for the smallest to ₹4,899 for the largest. He's received requests in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, though he's waiting to expand until he can build proper collections in those languages.
Sometimes he breaks his own rules. When customers want to gift a shelf to an author, Prabin creates miniature versions of that writer's specific works.
Your favorite books can now live with you forever, even if the full-sized versions sit on someone else's shelf.
