Kia's $31K Electric Car Offers 281 Miles of Range

Electric cars just got a lot more affordable for families watching their budgets.

Kia unveiled pricing for its smallest EV, the EV2, starting at around $31,000 in Germany. That's lower than the company's original $34,700 target, putting zero-emission driving within reach of more buyers.

The base model comes with a 42.2-kilowatt-hour battery delivering 197 miles of range, perfect for city commutes and weekend errands. Standard features include parking sensors, a backup camera, wireless smartphone connectivity, and advanced safety systems.

Buyers who need more range can upgrade to the larger 61-kilowatt-hour battery, which stretches to 281 miles on a single charge. That version starts at about $38,800 and adds perks like heated seats, automatic climate control, and better sound quality.

The car charges quickly too. Plug into a fast charger and you'll go from 10% to 80% battery in about 30 minutes, making road trips more practical.

Kia will start deliveries in April with mid-tier models, saving the base version for October. The company plans to ship higher-priced variants first, but patient buyers willing to wait can snag the best deal.
