"It was quite scary," he admitted. "I was thinking like maybe I lost my chance, but luckily we had the pace and I could bring it home."

Even Russell, who finished second and lost ground in the championship battle, showed nothing but respect for his teammate's performance. "He has driven incredibly this season and deserves to lead the championship," Russell said.
